It seems like just last week when I was writing my June president's message to you. I greet you in hopes that you have had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer so far. I'm also hoping that this message finds you starting to get excited about the start of a new school year.
I have no doubt that during this year we will all continue to work hard at enriching the lives of children, advocating for social justice, and improving public education. Along with all the difficulties of our teaching jobs, we always face political challenges that seek to take away our benefits, weaken unions, and potentially destroy public education. We must continue to press forward and be committed to not only do our jobs at the highest level but try to transform education. We will be working this year on increasing member engagement, so be on the lookout for ways you can actively participate with your union. Please feel free to contact us at any time with your ideas and questions.
As usual we will be having our first General Membership meeting of the 2019-2020 school year on Superintendent's Conference Day, September 3rd at 7:15 am, in the High School Auditorium. On behalf of the entire FFT leadership team, I look forward to seeing you then. Enjoy the rest of your vacation, you've earned it! Always remember that our profession and the FFT is better because of what YOU contribute to it.
