Message from President Cordelia Anthony
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome back to a brand-new school year! I hope your summer included some well-deserved rest, a few adventures, and at least one day where you completely lost track of time (because soon enough, the bell schedule will be what keeps us all on track again).
As I mentioned at our General Membership Meeting on Conference Day, this year is a big one—it’s a negotiations year. That means our collective voice matters more than ever. Unionism has always been about more than contracts; it’s about standing together to protect our profession, strengthen our schools, and ensure our students have the resources they need to thrive. When we sit at the bargaining table, we bring not just our own concerns, but the hopes of the students, families, and communities we serve.
Our impact goes far beyond the classroom. Every fight for fair pay, safe working conditions, and equitable schools is also a fight for justice and opportunity in our community. Many of us are starting the school year with a lot on our minds and all the issues of the world on our plates, but united, we’ve never been stronger. Solidarity, determination, and a good stash of chocolate can get us through anything. After all, if anyone knows how to keep spirits high in challenging times, it’s educators.
Together, we’ll face the year ahead with determination, creativity, and unity. Let’s get ready to show what solidarity looks like—in our classrooms, in our schools, and our communities. Here’s to a successful year ahead—together.
In solidarity,
Cordelia Anthony
President
