More than 50 districts are offering Take a Look at Teaching programs in New York state that are successfully attracting new students to careers in education at a time when we are facing a national teacher shortage. The union-led initiative seeks to develop a robust, diverse educator pipeline. The Take a Look at Teaching (TALAT) club at Farmingdale High School is looking for volunteers! These future teachers are hoping to observe some of the amazing professionals we have here in the Farmingdale School District to see first hand how a classroom operates! Students would be happy to watch a lesson or participate in any activity in which they could be helpful. Our goal is to expose the students to what it means to be a teacher and what effective teaching looks like.
